The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU) seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, within the Division of Internal Medicine, in the Department of Translational Medicine. The position will be responsible for providing outpatient primary care/ internal medicine specialty care, including adherence to professional practice standards for preventive care and chronic disease management, attention to nationally recognized practice guidelines and recommendations, and demonstration of skills consistent with the practice of outpatient internal medicine.
The selected candidate will ensure that all patients presenting for care will receive quality health care as per evidenced based medicine and standards of care, and that services will be medically necessary, appropriate, and compliant with their third-party payers; participate in quality improvement and peer review activities; maintain an awareness of the fiscal implications of services rendered, as well as current billing and coding requirements, with attention to timely documentation and billing practices; participate in after-hours call responsibility for patients as part of the FIU Health Faculty Group Practice; and work collaboratively and effectively with the health care team promoting coordinated and safe care for patients.
The Assistant/ Associate Professor will support our institution’s educational and scholarly efforts focused on education, clinical excellence, and compassionate patient care, participate as teaching faculty for Medicine Clerkship students rotating at the Ambulatory Care Center completing Outpatient Medicine rotations, supporting clerkship educational goals, and learning objectives, and providing outpatient learning opportunities based on best practices; and function as an integral faculty member of the Department of Translational Medicine, with attention to highest levels of professionalism, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and collaboration.
