Florida International University, Communication Sciences & Disorders Department in the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, nine-month position, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor to begin August 2024. The faculty member will be an integral part of the Master of Science program in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Graduate Certificate in Communication Sciences & Disorders, and the pending interdisciplinary Ph.D.in Nursing and Health Sciences on the FIU campus. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching didactic courses at the MS level, PhD level, and in the post-baccalaureate prerequisite certificate program, as well as maintain an active programmatic line of research. Candidates with expertise in language development and disorders, language and literacy, and bilingualism across the lifespan will receive preferential consideration. Other areas may include: clinical management and procedures, Minimum qualifications include an earned research doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related discipline.
The unique focus of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is one of cultural and linguistic diversity (CLD) and bilingualism. The goal of the Department is to educate CLD professionals to meet the needs of multicultural individuals with communication disorders. The Master of Science degree program in speech-language pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
